A stunning barn conversion, Ysgubor-Bennar is a wonderful two storey, two bedroom, two bathroom cottage on the coast of North West Wales. Sleeping five, this fabulous dog friendly cottage is within walking distance of the beach. With a completely refurbed interior, the property near Dyffryn Ardudwy retains the charm and character of the traditional building, while creating a bright, sleek and modern interior. For beach walks or a relaxing break in the countryside, Ysgubor-Bennar is the perfect property.

As one of four holiday cottages on the same site focused around a central courtyard with a fountain, the property is accessed via a gravel driveway from the road. Two steps lead up to the front door of the cottage, into a beautiful and bright lounge area. With crisp, clean white walls contrasting with an oak floor, the room is spacious with hints of character including exposed wooden lintels and a mantel above an open fireplace and slate hearth, which features a wood effect electric burner. A large L shaped teal coloured fabric sofa takes centre stage, along with a matching grey armchair set against the wall. Antique wooden side tables and a coffee table add further charm and with a Smart TV mounted on the wall above the fireplace, it's a comfortable room to gather in the evenings.

Passing a set of stairs, an opening leads through to the fantastic kitchen and dining area. The theme of whitewashed walls and wooden floor continues though, with some walls smoothly plastered where others expose the stone walled structure of the property. A galley kitchen includes units running along both sides of the room. With grey finished wooden units and a marble effect worktop, the brass fittings provide a sleek and modern feel. The kitchen is well equipped and ideal for the chef of the party to cook up hearty and create meals for the household. To the opposite side of the room, a farmhouse style dining table seats five, and is the perfect spot to gather for breakfast or dinner with views across the courtyard.

The first floor of this dog friendly cottage within walking distance of the beach features two bedrooms - a master double with en-suite and a triple bedroom alongside a family bathroom. The master bedroom is a beautiful space, built into the eaves of the converted barn, with exposed woodwork and a skylight providing natural light into the room. There is a feature half moon window with stunning coastal views. With exposed wooden floorboards and clean white walls, a large bed is located centrally along with bedside tables, an antique chest of drawers and wardrobe. Patterned yellow tones in the soft furnishings provide warmth. A sliding stable style door leads into a modern en-suite with walk in shower cubicle, basin and WC. Finished with marble effect tiles to the floor and wall, the shower features a large rain forest shower head. A curved basin is built onto a modern and stylish boxed counter with open storage under providing ample space for toiletries.

The second bedroom of the cottage is a large and spacious L shaped triple room with three single beds (which can also be configured as a superking and a single), all with bedside cabinets and table lamp, along with a chest of drawers. Once again, the exposed wooden eaves of the building provide character, as well as an original small window with slate sill. This room is also bright, with crisp white bed lined complemented by blue blankets and throws to add a touch of colour. Completing the layout of Ysgubor-Bennar, the family bathroom has a traditional feel, a tiled floor and wooden panelling to the front of the bath complement the wooden beams of the building. The bath also features a shower over, alongside a basin with storage under and WC.

Location

This is a fabulous property for guests who like to spend their time outdoors. To the front of Ysgubor-Bennar, a lovely patio area is the perfect spot to relax in the rural surroundings. With cosy rattan furniture, a wooden bench and a picnic table on a lawn, there is also a barbeque which can be fired up for those balmy summer evenings and al fresco dining. At only half a mile, it's a short stroll from this dog friendly cottage within walking distance of the beach. Benar Beach is dog friendly year round, it's a fabulous spot on warm summer days with its expanse of golden sands, or for brisk winter walks, depending on the time of your visit. With views across to the hills of the Llyn Peninsula, it sure is an idyllic spot.

Located centrally between Harlech and Barmouth, there's plenty of opportunity to get out and explore. Head north to Harlech and wander among the walls of the thirteenth century Harlech Castle, learning about the history of this medieval masterpiece. The castle provides fabulous views to the Snowdonia National Park and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) herself can be seen on a clear day. Be sure to stop in at some of the cute boutique gift shops and cafes the town has to offer. South of Ysgubor-Bennar, the seaside resort of Barmouth has a stunning beach with a beautiful mountain backdrop and the historic Barmouth Bridge, something of a landmark in the region. From the Barmouth area, take a walk along the Mawddach Trail, a walking and cycle path on a disused railway line which follows the Mawddach Estuary inland towards Dolgellau.

Fancy a hike, with less crowds that the main hub of Snowdonia? Head into the Rhinogydd mountains nearby, where a number of walking routes meander through these hills with something to suit all skill and fitness levels. For keen mountain bikers, Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park is located nearby. A purpose built mountain biking centre, there are trails to suit all levels and it's also a great spot for walkers, with great trails suitable for families and four legged friends. There's something for everyone in this region of North Wales, and the stunning scenery shouldn't be missed.

A lovely warm welcome from Tony and Sarah to a lovely cottage! With having 2 bathrooms it was perfect for us as two couples and the kitchen is very well equipped (although a measuring jug suitable for use in the microwave would have been handy!). A great location, near a beautiful beach which provided us with a stunning sunset on our first evening! Would definitely recommend.

A fantastic stay in a lovely cottage. Great location (for touring, walks and golf). Sarah and Tony were welcoming and friendly, and the food-welcome pack was much appreciated. The kitchen was very well equipped, and the cottage ideal for four adults.
A couple of suggestions / comments: a teapot would be a welcome addition, as would a mirror in the family bedroom. We travelled in two large vehicles, which made manoeuvring around the courtyard fountain ‘interesting’!

We had a very warm welcome from Tony & Sarah when we arrived and the cottage was simply perfect. New, clean, fresh and lacking nothing and in an ideal location. Tony & Sarah had emailed us some very useful restaurant and activity information before we arrived, which we made use of despite knowing the area quite well. We always use Dioni when we come to north Wales and Ysgubor certainly lived up to their high standards. We would happily book again.
