Location

Stabl-Bennar is conveniently located for exploring North Wales. Just 500 metres away is a sandy beach, perfect for sunbathing, swimming, or walking.

The setting of Stabl-Bennar is ideal for those who love spending time outdoors and on the beach. A ten minute walk along the lane from the two bedroom holiday beach retreat near Barmouth leads to a boardwalk that crosses the magnificent dunes that shelter a stunning sandy beach. Benar Beach is a wonderful spot to while away a balmy summer day, whether it's sunbathing, walking or taking a dip in the crisp clear water. With views across to the hills of the Llyn Peninsula, it sure is an idyllic spot.

Located centrally between Harlech and Barmouth, there's plenty of opportunity to get out and explore. Head north to Harlech and wander among the walls of the thirteenth century Harlech Castle, learning about the history of this medieval masterpiece. The castle provides fabulous views to the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) herself can be seen on a clear day. Be sure to stop in at some of the cute boutique gift shops and cafes the town has to offer. South of Ysgubor-Bennar, the seaside resort of Barmouth has a stunning beach with a beautiful mountain backdrop and the historic Barmouth Bridge, something of a landmark in the region. From the Barmouth area, take a walk along the Mawddach Trail, a walking and cycle path on a disused railway line which follows the Mawddach Estuary inland towards Dolgellau.

Fancy a hike, with less crowds that the main hub of Eryri? Head into the Rhinogydd mountains nearby, where a number of walking routes meander through these hills with something to suit all skill and fitness levels. For keen mountain bikers, Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park is located nearby. A purpose built mountain biking centre, there are trails to suit all levels and it's also a great spot for walkers, with great trails suitable for families and four legged friends. There's something for everyone in this region of North Wales, and the stunning scenery shouldn't be missed.

On arrival we were greeted by Richard and a very warm welcome! The place was peaceful, the oak exposed beams showing off its history. Everything was inside this property and a nice selection on local produce in the fridge. It’s was warm, cosy and so much to do and see around the area. The beach is super clean and so is the sea! Our dog enjoyed the whole experience as well. Thank you both for the positive experience! We will return and try a different property next time with my parents who deserve a break.

Just had a lovely couple of days here. Ystabal was really comfortable and cosy, and exactly as described. The surrounding area is beautiful. We’ll be back for some more serious walking in the spring.

We had such a lovely stay at Sarah & Tony’s cottage near Benar Beach. Sarah was really welcoming and made us feel at home right away, the little touches like fresh bread, tea & coffee and doggie biscuits were so thoughtful and much appreciated. The cottage itself was immaculate and perfectly suited for a couple (plus our dog) looking for a relaxing getaway. The location couldn’t have been better for us, just a 10-minute walk to beautiful Benar Beach and only a short drive to Barmouth, which has plenty to see and do and lots of food places that allow dogs. We loved our stay here and would 100% recommend it to anyone. We’d definitely come back again!

We had a wonderful stay at Stable Bennar! It’s a great location and a wonderful cottage, newly renovated, dog- and child-friendly, very nice hosts Tony and Sarah, who have been very helpful when we had an emergency with our dog. The beach is just a 10 min walk away and there is a dog-friendly beach all year round. Very relaxed atmosphere. The cottage had everything we need, including a washing machine (very helpful when travelling with a toddler…) and Tony and Sarah even sent us a list of all tourist attractions in advance! We would love to come back!!!

Amazing 🤩
The accommodation was gorgeous and the area was beautiful. Lovely short walk to the beach, even if the road could do with a path.
Went to the Ysgethin Inn for dinner Saturday night and it was wonderful, finished the night off watching the sunset on the beach, beautiful.

The cottage we stayed in was very well presented and clean, great facilities for a small building, the owners were wonderful.

We would definitely stay here again, highly recommend.

We were welcomed personally with some fresh bread, milk and cheese already there: that felt really warm. It’s a really cosy little house, with enough space to live inside when the weathers not too good. But we had great weather so went out to the beach (really near) and walked around Barmouth (great views); it was fantastic! We only stayed for a few days but would live to come back for a week.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. Tucked away in a peaceful setting, it offered everything we needed for a relaxing break. The beach was just a short stroll down the lane, perfect for evening sunsets. The facilities were good, and the hosts were warm, welcoming, and always happy to help, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived.
