For beach walks and beautiful sunsets, this fabulous single storey conversion is the perfect hideaway to spend a relaxing break on the coast of North Wales. Sleeping four, the bright and airy two bedroom holiday beach retreat near Barmouth is a property not to be missed. Bwthyn-Bennar oozes charm and comfort mixing the traditional with modern with an added splash of coastal chic.

Set in grounds alongside two other holiday cottages, a gravel driveway provides access to this property with two steps leading toward the gorgeous sage green front door, opening into the main living space. You'll immediately be struck by the charm of the property with exposed stone walls, whitewashed ceilings featuring the original wooden beams and full height glazing to one wall overlooking the garden space. By day, the living space is bright and airy. Settling down onto the comfy navy blue fabric sofa or arm chair, a TV is located in the corner of the room to catch up on your latest box set. A four seater dining table, with a blue tablecloth of patterned shells, is the perfect spot for breakfast or a lovely evening meal, cooked in the adjacent kitchen.

Speaking of the kitchen, Bwthyn-Bennar has a beautiful contemporary galley kitchen located next to the dining area, accessed via three steps. Sleek navy cupboard units contrast with the white marble effect worktops. A counter to one side includes a sink and worktop space, toaster and kettle while the opposite side includes a ceramic built in hob sitting alongside a built in eye level oven and microwave. It's a great space for the budding chef of the household to rustle up a hearty meal after a long day exploring the stunning surroundings.

A corridor from the kitchen leads through to the cottage's two bedrooms and bathroom. The first bedroom is a wonderful double, featuring a large bed flanked by a white bedside cabinet to one side, wicker table to the other and table lamps. With a dressing table and large white wooden wardrobe, there is plenty of clothes storage space. Room decor such as a throw on the bed and seagull ornaments provide a nod to the seaside location. Whitewashed walls, exposed wooden ceiling beams and an oak effect floor continue the theme from the living areas. The second bedroom, a twin, provides two single beds, along with a dressing table and large wardrobe. Completing the layout, the stunning bathroom sits to the end of the property with a large walk in shower with rain forest head. Marble effect wall and floor tiles match the style of the kitchen worktop, once again providing consistency to this two bedroom holiday beach retreat near Barmouth.

Location

The setting of Bwthyn-Bennar is ideal for those who love spending time outdoors and on the beach. Stepping out of the property, a slate patio houses a rattan lounge set, as well as a picnic table on the lawn. The west facing aspect provides the opportunity for one of those epic North Wales sunsets, perfect to enjoy while sipping a drink on the patio. Pure bliss. A ten minute walk along the lane from the two bedroom holiday beach retreat near Barmouth leads to a boardwalk that crosses the magnificent dunes that shelter a stunning sandy beach. Benar Beach is a wonderful spot to while away a balmy summer day, whether it's sunbathing, walking or taking a dip in the crisp clear water. With views across to the hills of the Llyn Peninsula, it sure is an idyllic spot.

Located centrally between Harlech and Barmouth, there's plenty of opportunity to get out and explore. Head north to Harlech and wander among the walls of the thirteenth century Harlech Castle, learning about the history of this medieval masterpiece. The castle provides fabulous views to the Snowdonia National Park and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) herself can be seen on a clear day. Be sure to stop in at some of the cute boutique gift shops and cafes the town has to offer. South of Bwthyn-Bennar, the seaside resort of Barmouth has a stunning beach with a beautiful mountain backdrop and the historic Barmouth Bridge, something of a landmark in the region. From the Barmouth area, take a walk along the Mawddach Trail, a walking and cycle path on a disused railway line which follows the Mawddach Estuary inland towards Dolgellau.

Fancy a hike, with less crowds that the main hub of Eryri (Snowdonia)? Head into the Rhinogydd mountains nearby, where a number of walking routes meander through these hills with something to suit all skill and fitness levels. For keen mountain bikers, Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park is located nearby. A purpose built mountain biking centre, there are trails to suit all levels and it's also a great spot for walkers, with great trails suitable for families and four legged friends. There's something for everyone in this region of North Wales, and the stunning scenery shouldn't be missed.

Lovely warm and spotlessly clean cottage in a peaceful setting. The hosts were very welcoming and left us a very generous food package! There was even a prettily decorated Christmas tree!
Would definitely recommend!

Stayed 5 nights (4th to 8th Dec),
Despite storm Darragh we had a lovely stay. Very welcoming and informative hosts. They live in the adjacent property and are on hand if there are any issues which is great.
We had no such problems despite storm Darragh!
We are a couple and one dog. Our property had 2 bedrooms and one bathroom. Spacious living room and a log burning fire. Easy to work central heating. Lovely bathroom and shower facilities. Very clean / tidy/ comfortable with all the amenities required to be self sufficient.
Location is great too. Quiet area approx 5 miles from Barmouth. The beach is a 5/10 minute walk along the lane. You can drive if required and park. It’s a lovely beach too. Initially cobbled but sandy if you walk a little (right).
Great location to explore the coast and general area.
Would definitely stay again.

Had a lovely time relaxing time in this beautiful cottage. The hosts were very welcoming. The location could not have been better, just a short walk to the Bennar beach, with plenty of other beaches, restaurants and pubs close by. The weather was very kind to us with beautiful starry evenings (including shooting ones) and the Northern Lights put in an appearance for us. Would highly recommend this quality accommodation – a home away from home.

Thank you once again for a lovely stay at this delightful cottage. Tony was very welcoming and attentive throughout our stay, and any requests we had were resolved swiftly (such as providing us with a lighter duvet for the warmer nights :-)). Thank you also for the welcome gifts of bread, milk and cheese – very much appreciated.

During our visit, we enjoyed walking along the promenade in Barmouth, with a delicious ice cream from Knickerbockers at the end of it, and we hopped on the train from Dyffryn Ardudwy to Machynlleth to take in the beautiful scenery. We also found a lovely bistro called Hafan Llwyfen at the Estuary Lodge in Talsarnau – great quality food at a very reasonable price.

Looking forward to visiting again soon!

Amazing stay at this beautiful cottage! So lovely and really close to the most incredible beach – about a 10-15 minute walk away. Dog friendly too.
Really spacious cottage. Owners have thought of everything and I really canā€™t fault our stay. The bed was so comfortable and everywhere was so clean.
We will definitely be back!

What a perfect little place for a really relaxing break. We had everything we needed and more. One very minor issue was dealt with immediately by Sarah and Tony. Loved the area and proximity to everything. The beaches were fab for dog walks and the weather was very kind. We would love to return again

We had a great week long stay and got really lucky with the weather for the beginning of March- lots of sunshine and the added bonus of hardly anyone on the fabulous beach close by.

The cottage is very well equipped and had everything we needed. We were impressed by the welcome basket which you can actually have some say in what is included. Bathroom was spotless with a great shower. Kitchen immaculate with everything you need, although a spare tea towel is useful when staying a week (this was immediately provided when we asked). All the bedding was immaculate. We found the beautiful winter duvet did its job too well and Tony and Sarah very kindly swopped it for a lighter one for us, which was much appreciated.
Hosts are on site and there if needed and are very welcoming and friendly. Our dog was also made to feel very welcome.
Would thoroughly recommend it and we will be going back again.

We very much appreciated the welcome and show around by Tony and also the generous welcome pack. The barn has been well renovated. Our stay was in January and it was very warm and cosy. The double bed is comfortable and the bedlinen and towels are very good quality. We particularly liked the sensor lighting that runs the length of the hall!
We had a lovely lunch in The George lll in Penmaenpool – as recommended by Tony.

It would be handy to have a hook on the bathroom door. The recycling unit in the kitchen cupboard needs to be more clearly labelled. Also, a separate food waste bin with a lid would be better to prevent the food odours escaping.

We really enjoyed our stay and have re booked for a week in June.
